CCCEPA Students Earn Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarships
Of the 20 national recipients, the American Theatre Wing awarded three Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative Training Scholarships to Cobb County School District (CCSD) students. The CCSD students, who study at the Cobb County Center for Excellence in Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School (CCCEPA), include sophomore Julia Schick and juniors Eugene Bois and Sydney Lopes.
“Eugene, Sydney, and Julia are exemplary representatives of the performing arts magnet program and the Cobb County Schools,” said Frank Timmerman, CCCEPA director of performing arts. “They display a disciplined work ethic in their study of the arts at Pebblebrook and are most deserving of this recognition. All of their teachers were thrilled to learn that they’d been selected to receive the ALW Scholarship. It’s a real source of pride for our school, and another validation of the quality of the arts education our students are lucky to receive here in Cobb.”

PLAYBILL: “How Did Four Actors from the Same High School All Get Cast in BOOK OF MORMON?”
What are the odds one show employs four performers in four separate productions—who have all graduated from the same high school—in the same calendar year? Such is the case for K.J. Hippensteel, Jevares Myrick, Billy Harrigan Tighe and Ryan Breslin, who each “served a Mormon mission” in 2014, with Hippensteel, Tighe and Myrick still performing in a version of the show. All four actors graduated Pebblebrook High School’s magnet program: Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts (CCCEPA) in Mableton, GA.
The four rising talents explain how CCCEPA set them up for Mormon success and what it’s like to perform alongside your longtime buddies.
